SYDNEY, 23rd January 2013 - The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and its international channel, Australia Network, continues to build upon the strength of its relationships with broadcasters in China and has recently been awarded the Vision of the Future Award by International Channel Shanghai (ICS) during ICS' 5th Anniversary celebrations. The award is in recognition of the exceptional international cooperation between Shanghai Media Group, ICS, the ABC, and Australia Network and acknowledges the vision of future international understanding of China shared by the ABC and Australia Network.
Australia Network is Australia's international channel managed by the ABC and is broadcast across 46 countries throughout the Asia Pacific region. ICS is Shanghai Media Group's international channel broadcasting into 5 million households in Shanghai. Recently, ICS broadcast a week of Australia Network and ABC supplied programs in prime time and Australia Network reciprocated broadcasting ICS programs on the network under the banner Window on China. At a launch for the Window on China broadcast project in Sydney, the ABC Chairman Mr. James Spigelman re-iterated the ABC's commitment to China and to continuing to expand the co-operation with the Shanghai Media Group.
The Vision of the Future Award was received on behalf of Australia Network by Ms. Luisa Rust, Trade Commissioner for the Australian Trade Commission Shanghai, during a gala variety show hosted by Shanghai Media Group.
“It is a great honour to receive this award from the Shanghai Media Group in recognition of the productive partnership between our two companies.
