Jolene Jeremiah is originally from Malaysia and moved to Australia four years ago to study Communications at Griffith University on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Through her studies Jolene discovered her love of film-making and went on to study a Masters in Art and media where she specialised in film production. Jolene enjoyed the practical side of the course, getting to go out and shoot and edit her own videos.
Since graduating this year Jolene has been working in the Griffith University International Office whilst she seeks to further her career in film-making. Jolene enjoys being able to help other new international students, remembering that she was “once in their shoes.”
As the President of the Malaysian Club Jolene has become very involved in University activities and events. She enjoys spending time with friends from a range of cultures and backgrounds and learning about the world.
Jolene’s hobbies include fire-twirling, which she has learnt since living by Surfers Paradise and running on the beach. She is also a keen artist and enjoys creating paintings to decorate her home. Jolene finds that Australian culture is more about individualism and she enjoys her new found independence.
