The Lunch Box
The Lunch Box is a Buddhist tale of love and loss and is the compelling inspiration for a new chamber opera. It is believed to be the first opera in the Thai language. The Lunch Box recently premiered at the Ten Days on the Island Festival, in Hobart.
Each year, dozens of racing greyhounds finish their track careers, and in the past, that was also the end of their lives. Well now the greyhound adoption program is providing new homes, new hope.
Junk Theory takes the form of a floating hybrid media installation on a 37-foot traditional Chinese junk featuring moving and still imagery created to evoke the iconic beachside suburb of Sydney's Cronulla in all its ugliness and beauty. Films, portraits, messages, maps and animations are projected onto the boat's sails and ambient sounds and musical compositions will waft off the deck as Junk Theory travels to various locations around Tasmania.
