Fiji raises airport tax

Fiji has increased its airport departure tax as part of the government's latest tax revenue push.

Fijilive reports airline passengers will now pay 75 Fiji dollars, or about $US40 - an increase of 35 Fiji dollars.

Departure tax is among other revenue items, including water rates, passport sales and court fines targeted in the interim government's 2009 budget as major revenue earners.
