Australia could lift ban on Philippine bananas 13/11/2008

Australia may soon lift its import ban on Cavendish bananas from the Philippines.

The quarantine watchdog, Biosecurity Australia, has released its final risk analysis report and have given industry representatives have a month to respond.

It sets out a number of conditions including only accepting fruit from areas with low pest levels, and using Australian officers to inspect Filipino plantations.
