SDL Party to challenge Fiji High Court coup ruling 13/10/2008

The party of ousted Fijian prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, says it will appeal against last week's High Court decision ruling the 2006 coup was lawful.

The SDL Party's national director Peceli Kinivuwai told Fijilive news website that the party will appeal against the decision within two weeks.

The SDL party was removed from office by a December 2006 coup lead by now interim prime minister and head of the military, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

Mr Kinivuwai says the party's lawyer is preparing papers for the appeal.
