Nurses meet in Fiji to discuss migration woes 07/10/2008
15:57:57

Nurses from around the Pacific are meeting in Suva this week to discuss issues which contribute to the mass migration of the health workers.

Association general secretary Kuini Lutua says the major concern expressed by members is the difficulties they face in trying to get nursing jobs overseas.

She says nurses who migrate to Australia or New Zealand are only qualified as care givers, but their nursing licence is activated once they take a nursing examination.

The Fiji Times says over 100 participants from 11 countries are attending the Biennial South Pacific Nurses Forum.
