French Overseas Secretary in French Polynesia for talks 07/10/2008

French State Secretary for Overseas, Yves Jego is visiting French Polynesia this week to hold talks with the territory's president Gaston Tong Sang.

He is also scheduled to meet business leaders and union representatives to discuss the current economic situation in the territory, where several key sectors, inclduing tourism and pearl farming, are experiencing difficulties.

Oceania Flash says Mr Jego will launch a "price observatory" that will monitor the cost of living.

He will also attend commemorations of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of singer Jacques Brel.
