Earthquake hits off coast of Vanuatu 08/09/2008

A strong earthquake has hit off the coast of Vanuatu, but Australian seismologists say it is unlikely to have triggered a tsunami or other damage.

Geoscience Australia says the magnitude 6.6 undersea quake was centred about 200 kilometres south of Port Vila between Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
