00:50:48

An Islamist website says Osama bin Laden will soon issue a "very strong" statement to Muslims across the world.

The website that made the announcement is linked to al Qaeda,

Bin Laden's latest message, issued on Friday, was addressed to the Western public and marked Israel's 60th anniversary.

Meanwhile, the Taliban in Afghanistan says it has carried out an attack on a helicopter that was carrying the governor of Helmand province and British officials.

A Taliban spokesman says the attack on Saturday caused casualties, as well as damaging the helicopter.

The British Ministry of Defence says no passengers were injured in the rocket attack, which forced the helicopter to make an emergency landing.
