Condoleezza Rice continues Asia visit 26/02/2008
14:51:19

The US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, has left South Korea for Beijing on the second leg of a regional tour aimed at breaking an impasse in nuclear negotiations with North Korea.

A US embassy spokesman says Dr Rice will go on to Japan after China.

She attended the inauguration on Monday of South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak and held talks with him.

Mr Lee has agreed to work more closely with Washington to denuclearise North Korea and has insisted the move will not raise inter-Korean tensions.
