SKorea president-elect faces fraud probe 18/02/2008
17:55:07

In South Korea, special prosecutors have questioned president-elect Lee Myung-Bak about allegations that he was involved in a stock manipulation scandal in 2001.

Mr Lee is due to take office next week.

The president-elect denies any role in the fraud allegedly engineered by a former business partner.

The official Yonhap news agency says the prosecutors are also investigating whether Mr Lee lied about his wealth and alleged ownership of real estate in an upmarket district of the capital, Seoul.
