Armed police officers have ended a three day protest by Greenpeace activists who have been preventing an export ship loading logs at a remote port in Papua New Guinea. PNG Correspondent Steve Marshall reports Police officers carrying M16 rifles boarded the export ship and ordered Greenpeace activists down from a loading crane they'd commandeered since Wednesday. Greenpeace spokesman Tiy Chung said the police escorted a company logging official who'd agreed to a land owner request to set a date for a review of logging operations. The Greenpeace ship Esperanza will continue roaming Papua New Guinea waters on it's save the forests and climate campaign. Produced by Radio Australia and Australia Network |
