Cambodia's deputy military chief says a detachment of Thai soldiers has pulled back from a second ancient temple on disputed border land.

Pov Heng told reporters the group of Thai soldiers left the 13th century Ta Moan Thom temple on Tuesday afternoon and returned to base.

However there are no signs of any military withdrawal from the more hotly contested Preah Vihear temple 100 kilometres east of Ta Moan Thom.

On Tuesday the Thai cabinet agreed in principle to withdraw some troops from Preah Vihear, and a Thai official told AFP newsagency the foreign ministers from both countries will discuss the dispute later this month.
