Thailand's cabinet has agreed in principle to pull back some troops from near a disputed temple on the Cambodian border.

The two countries agreed in talks last week to pull back their forces from the disputed territory.

Thailand's cabinet has now backed the plan, but a spokesman says details will be discussed later by Cambodian and Thai military officials.

An official told AFP news agency both foreign ministers are due to meet for two days from August the 18th in the Thai beach resort of Hua Hin.

The border dispute erupted in mid-July, after three Thai nationalist protesters were arrested for trying to illegally cross into Cambodia to reach the temple.
