05/08/2008 15:47:15 Thai PM threatens protestors over slogans

The Thai prime minister has threatened to have protestors arrested for using racially divisive slogans.

Sondhi Limthongkul, from the People's Alliance for Democracy, campaigned Monday night in a T-shirt calling on ethnic Chinese Thais to join the protests.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has accused Sondhi of wearing the T-shirt to incite racial divisions.

Thousands of protesters have been attending daily rallies for the past two months, demanding the government step down.

The PAD is a group of royalists, businessmen and activists who accuse Mr Samak of acting as a proxy for former premier Thakin Shinawatra.

Mr Thaksin was deposed in 2007 and now faces numerous corruption charges.
