A fifth man has been arrested and charged in Cambodia over the 1996 kidnapping and killing of British mine clearer Christopher Howes.

Puth Lim a former Khmer Rouge fighter, was detained on Friday on charges of premeditated murder and illegal confinement leading to the deaths of Mr Howes and his Cambodian translator.

Four other former Khmer Rouge soldiers have been arrested in the case, including one who was detained last week and three others caught in November.

All five men face life in prison if convicted.
