A strong aftershock has struck the southwest Chinese province of Sichuan which is struggling to recover from a devastating earthquake. The official Xinhua news agency says the aftershock measured 6 on the Richter scale and was felt particularly in Jiangyou jyahng-YU City. Xinhua says there are no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Rainfall has sent a mud-rock flow into a town in neighbouring Gansu province, destroying several vehicles. There are fears the wet weather could cause weakened houses to collapse. Highways to areas worst hit by the quake have all reopened. Produced by Radio Australia and Australia Network |
