18/05/2008 09:39:25 Britian to channel aid for Burma through Asia
Burma
In Depth

Britain is working to channel its aid for Burma through China and other Asian nations to overcome the paranoia of the military junta.

The Foreign Office Minister Mark Malloch-Brown says the idea of a mixed relief team lead by Asians is a last best effort to meet the suspicions of the generals who have not allowed international aid to reach victims of the cyclone.

France says Burma is on the verge of committing a crime against humanity.

Lord Malloch Brown says they will not accept no for an answer.

"We want to do this in a collaborative way but ultimately we will not stand by or go away with our tale between our legs because the government won't receive assistance and deliver it to its people. That is an unacceptable outcome."
