On 23rd February 2002 Ingrid Betancourt was kidnapped in Colombia by Marxist guerrillas of the FARC (The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). She was held captive in the jungle for some six and a half years. "Six Years in the Jungle" is a journey back along rivers and through thick jungle to confront the past and meditate on what it means to be kidnapped: the waiting, the uncertainty, the powerlessness, the very real proximity of death, the total lack of freedom and any choice in how life progresses.
