Four months after the doors of the *Far Out East* re-open for business, Art Watkins* life in Broken Bay is looking pretty damn idyllic. He*s made a truce with his younger brother, Vance, begun a tentative renewal of his relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Eve and is beginning to understand what fathering a teenage boy is all about. On the night of the launch for his book on Global Happiness, though, the tide turns - dramatically. A violent storm blasts into the Bay and changes the lives of all our characters. Terry Adams mysteriously disappears from a dive boat caught in high seas. A solo yachtswoman is shipwrecked half way through her world voyage and her arrival opens up a world of possibilities for Bev Flick. Gerry Watkins - Art and Vance*s long absent father - blows into town along with the change in the weather. Gerry arrives claiming that Nancy was the love of his life and her death has prompted him to see the error of his ways and re-establish a relationship with his boys and his only grandchild. Vance is too caught up in his childhood adoration for his father to doubt him - but Art*s not buying it. Josh, awaiting an overseas posting as a volunteer, has moved into the *Far Out East* where he*s taken under Gerry*s wing. Melanie Freeman is determined to repay Vance for the roof over her head - and to win back his love. Lizzy - with her hippy cuisine, fire-twirling, didge workshops and a barter-for-bed arrangement with a whole bunch of *kooks* just keeps bringing out the worst in Melanie. When Art*s book flops with the public and he*s ordered back to travel guides, he begins to seriously wonder why he gave up years of carefree global roaming to live under the same roof with his opportunistic father, his sex-crazed teenage son, a brother he never sees, a pregnant flower-child and a spa nazi! When he discovers his father has staked a claim on half the *Far Out East* Art decides his mission is to *out* all the snake oil salesmen of the world.
