Sean Yoshiura is living proof that dreams really do come true.
Growing up in Japan, as a young child Sean Yoshiura says
“It’s always been a massive dream to be able to be the first Japanese AFL player. Be someone who can help promote and send the gospel to Asian continent”
Today at the tender age of 19, that’s exactly what he has achieved!
Yoshiura was barely a teenager when his parents decided to take the leap of faith and move to sunny Brisbane, a move that he reflects brought his family even closer together.
Along with his brother and sister Yoshiura has embraced the Australian outdoor lifestyle, spending most days on the beach or kicking a football. As a gifted sportsperson he has won medals both in the pool and on the track but Aussie Rules is his passion and now it’s his life.
While studying Sport Science at the Bond University, Yoshiura was accepted as a Rookie into the AFL Brisbane Lions. He now has a shot at becoming an AFL legend and fulfilling his dreams.
In this episode of Australia & Me we go behind the scenes of Yoshiura’s hectic sporting and university schedule.
